Cape Town – Hisense South Africa Celebrates Mandela Day With Newkidz
Johannesburg, 27 July 2017: Hisense, a leader of flat-panel televisions, home appliances, and mobile communication devices held their own post-Mandela Day celebrations on 25 July at a local children’s learning centre in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. Mandela Day, celebrated on 18 July, is an opportunity for fellow South Africans to unite and set out on good-deeds missions around the country. Hisense South Africa joined in on the celebrations and delivered their act of kindness by visiting the Paul Otto Educare learning centre along with the city’s Newkidz organisation. Paul Otto Educare cares for approximately 50-100 children per day, ranging from babies to children up to the age of five years old. Many of these children receive their only meal for the day whilst in their care. Hisense, along with Newkidz, realised the need for a better equipped kitchen at Paul Otto Educare in order to accommodate the demand for feeding their children in-house. Newkidz is a non-profit organisation, formed in 2007, that assists with extreme makeovers of children’s homes to create awareness and support for South African orphans and children in need. The Hisense team and the Newkidz organisation visited the Paul Otto Learning Centre in order to help refurbish, paint and restore their kitchen which was in need of a revamp. Together, the staff put their physical labour to the test and contributed their 67 minutes (and more) to assisting the learning centre where needed. The electronics forerunner also donated a new Hisense fridge and will be funding necessary kitchen building materials as well as a gas stove and its instillation so that the centre is able to prepare food for the children that they care for. Claire Noyes-Smith, Marketing Manager at Hisense SA says, “as a global brand, our philosophy encompasses not only technology, but also responsibility, integrity and quality – traits that should certainly be celebrated in South Africa on Mandela Day”. www.hisense.co.za | Twitter: @HisenseSA | Facebook: HisenseSA | Instagram: HisenseSA | #MandelaDay #AimHigh
