Johannesburg, 20 July: Hisense, a world leader of flat-panel TVs, household appliances, and mobile communication devices, celebrated Madiba’s life by stepping out of the electronics space and onto NOAH’s doorstep – a local assisted living facility in Woodstock, Cape Town.
On 18 July, the nation came together in spirit to honour Mr Mandela, many of whom set out on a good-deeds mission. Hisense SA delivered their act of kindness by visiting NOAH, a registered NPO assisted living home for the elderly. “Home, Health and Happiness for every older person” is the vision that drives NOAH, which works to support more than 700 state pensioners. The centre is a respected provider of affordable and secure housing solutions, access to affordable quality health care and holistic social support, helping active State pensioners continue to lead purposeful and contributing lives.
Hisense SA surprised the residents at the centre with some uplifting entertainment on Mandela Day. A karaoke machine was set up and the afternoon was spent serenading a regaled crowd while sharing tasty eats. Hisense also fuelled the excitement of the day by donating a 40 Inch TV, as well as a generous cash donation for the home to buy various necessities.
“Spending time with NOAH’s residents brightens their day and makes them feel as though they have not been forgotten. Many of the residents here don’t see family regularly, so they get lonely. Something like this really lifts their spirits” says an appreciative Jane Mills, Marketing and Sustainability at NOAH. Adhering to the philosophy of “technology, quality, honesty, and responsibility” is something that Hisense lives for – a philosophy that was certainly celebrated on Mandela Day.
