On the 5th of February, Hisense launched two new mobile products to the media in Green Park, Sandton, Johannesburg. Approximately 100 local media and key channel customers were present on the day. The MC for the event was the famous presenter of South African TV show ManCave, Janez Vermeiren.
At the event, themed “Life Beautifully Simplified”, Hisense launched the Infinity H6 Smartphone and the Sero8 Pro tablet. These two products were positioned to be “the most affordable high-tech mobile smart products” for consumers.
Mr. Youbo Li, the general manager of Hisense South Africa, mentioned in his keynote speech “The mobile competition in the South Africa market is fierce, while the opportunity is huge. With the right product, right price, right channel, Hisense South Africa believe that we can restructure the local smart mobile product market”. Currently the mobile business in South Africa is minimal with below 1% market share, but in 2015 it has the chance to increase to over 5% of the market share.
At the launch event, Hisense invited the mobile expert in South Africa, Simon Dingle, to talk on mobile trends. During his speech, he used the Anyview Cast Function, amongst others, on the Hisense Sero 8 Pro, allowing him to interact with the guests. This resulted in good feedback from those that attended. During the launch, a Laser technology show displayed the key features of the devices, while the gesture control selfie option captured the attention of many.
The SA mobile market has been controlled by the different networks for a long time. After many attempts, Hisense entered the local market through Pre-Paid modes assisted with mass channels, online and jewellery channels. Hisense has gained the trust of the consumers and made the network and other channels see the value of Hisense products and now Cell C, Telkom and many other channels have opened their doors for Hisense.
